Circuit Judge Amanda Baxley

Judge Baxley serves as Circuit Judge, Place 3 and is a resident of Chilton County.  She and her husband have 3 children.  Prior to serving the 19th Circuit as Circuit Judge, Judge Baxley was in private practice for 14 years.  In her private practice, Judge Baxley served the citizens of the 19th Circuit as Guardian Ad Litem, criminal public defender, and mediator.  She focused her practice on family and criminal law, as well as estate planning.  Judge Baxley has previous served as Municipal Judge for the Towns of Maplesville and Thorsby, and prosecutor for the City of Clanton.  Prior to going into private practice, Judge Baxley served for three years as an Assistant District Attorney for the 19th Judicial Circuit.  Judge Baxley has been active in the 19th Circuit’s Drug Court Program since it’s inception, serving as Public Defender in both Chilton and Elmore Counties.

Judge Baxley is a 2001 Graduate of the University of West Alabama with a B.S. in English and Political Science.  She received her Master’s degree in English from the University of Southern Mississippi and is a 2006 graduate of the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law.  She is licensed by the Alabama State Bar and also admitted to argue before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Judge Baxley has previously served as president of the Chilton County Bar Association and served on the Alabama State Bar’s Indigent Defense and Appointed Counsel Committee and Task Force.  She and her family are members of First Baptist Church Clanton, where she assists with Children’s Ministry projects and enjoys serving in the Vacation Bible School program each year.  Judge Baxley also serves on the Clanton Youth Baseball Board and enjoys volunteering with the Distinguished Young Woman Program, to which she held the title for Choctaw County in 1998.
